Layout (CAD) Engineer

• Work closely with Business Development, Systems Engineering, Project Management, Controls Engineering and the Installation teams to create the necessary documentation to sell, produce, install, & operate a Vanderlande system.
• Translate customer requirements into a 3D layout of a conveyor system in cooperation with the Project Engineer.
• Generate specifications from detailed mechanical layouts for manufacture of the conveying equipment.
• Provide practical support & problem solving during installation & project execution.
• Generate As-Built drawings after installation has been completed.
• Take responsibility for all incoming & outgoing documents involving drawings.
• Work independently to collect: i) information to create the drawings, ii) measurements on site, and iii) required information from subcontractors.
• Create specifications for special features.

Your profile

• Diploma of technology in Mechanical Engineering and/or CAD certificate training and 3+ years of experience in this industry.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, including proven working experience with 3D AutoCAD.
• Materials handling aptitude.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows, FileMaker Pro, NavisWorks.
• Proven ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects concurrently.
• Adaptable, flexible, and pro-active.
• Strong English communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proven track record working in an organized and structured way.
• A positive contributor and a team player.
• Willingness & availability to travel.
• Related industry experience is an asset.
