In veel van onze systemen speelt de ‘sorter’ een cruciale rol. In een razend tempo worden hierop pakketten of koffers ingeschoten, vervoerd naar hun eindbestemming en daar uitgesorteerd.
Het is een enorme uitdaging om een complete sorter met meerdere infeed clusters real-time te besturen. Daarom bouwen we aan één sorterbesturing die na configuratie meteen werkt voor al onze sortertypen: de FSC (Flow Systems Controller) Next Generation.
Voor deze nieuwe software controllers brengen we moderne software technieken in stelling die we combineren met agile ontwikkelprocessen in een professioneel en toegewijd team.
De functie
Als Software Engineer ben je verantwoordelijk voor het in teamverband ontwerpen, implementeren, testen, en volledig opleveren van kwalitatief hoogwaardige software, die wereldwijd door de operationele organisatie wordt ingezet. Soms vraagt de operationele organisatie hierbij ondersteuning van het software team en zul je dus tijdelijk op site meehelpen om een systeem naar volle tevredenheid van de klant af te leveren.
Een job in onze team betekent een veelzijdige investering in de toekomst. Je werkt mee aan een software product wat de komende jaren wereldwijd de meest cruciale delen van onze systemen zal besturen. Daarbij doe je ervaring op met moderne technologie in een goed doordachte software architectuur. Enkele steekwoorden die een indruk geven: C++, Scrum, QNX, Realtime, Profinet, XML/XSD, Visual C#.
Hierbij zul je worden opgenomen in een flexibel en hecht team wat sterk zelfsturend is en staat voor een professioneel eindresultaat. Je werkzaamheden worden dagelijks afgestemd in een ‘stand up' meeting.
Jouw profiel
- HBO- of WO-opleiding in een van de volgende richtingen Technische Computerkunde, Technische Informatica, of Electrotechniek
- Ervaring in object georiënteerd programmeren in de context van machinebouw is een pré, maar VI is zeker ook geïnteresseerd in getalenteerde afgestudeerden met een sterke drive voor resultaten.

Software Engineer Controls – R&D

The Department
Vanderlande Industries is a strong player in the international world of material handling systems.
Within our Research & Development department we develop innovative building blocks for our systems which support three market segments, Baggage Handling, Distribution, Parcel and Postal.
In many of our systems the ‘sorter’ plays a crucial role in their efficiency and outputs. Packages or cases are collected, transported to their destination and then distributed at a rapid tempo. It is quite a challenge to control a complete sorter machine with multiple in-feed clusters in real-time. This is why we focus on building one sorter controller, that after configuration immediately works with all types of sorters (this we call our Flow Systems Controller (FSC) Next Generation). Modern software techniques are combined with Agile development processes for the development of these controllers.
The Position
As Software Engineer Controls R&D you will be responsible for the design, implementation, test and delivery of high quality software which is used world-wide throughout in the operational organization. A role as software engineer within our multi-disciplinary team means making an investment in the future as you build up broad technical knowledge and experience. You will work with software products that in the coming years will play a crucial part in ‘controls’ of our systems world-wide. Plus you will build up experience with modern technologies with well thought-out innovative software architecture. On occasion you will be required to travel to customer's sites to ensure our systems are delivered to their complete satisfaction.
You will join a flexible but dynamic team of professional engineers and you will participate in daily ‘stand-up’ meetings.
Your Profile
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience of Object Oriented programming with C, C++ / Unix in real-time
- 1-3 years software development experience in the context of industrial automation environment is an advantage, however, we are also interested in talented new graduates
- Knowledge of QNX, Profinet, XML/XSD, Visual C# is a plus
- You are fluent in English and Dutch
- You are analytically strong , results-oriented and you make decisions
- You are a strong communicator, pro-active and a team player
- Willing to travel 10% of the time.
