The Procurement & Logistics department ensures that the materials and services needed for the worldwide projects of Vanderlande Industries are available on time, in full and under competitive conditions.

Whether it concerns steel for production, the selection of suppliers for local engineering services for a project in India or complex construction logistics for a large project at London Heathrow, the performance of the Procurement & Logistics department is essential for the success of Vanderlande Industries. The package of purchasing and logistical functions is, therefore, extremely broad, challenging and innovative.

Employees in the Procurement & Logistics department think in processes instead of departments, are ambitious and professional and can quickly react to events. Both large and small decisions have a direct impact on Vanderlande Industries’ projects. Empathy with technically-orientated departments is alternated with hands-on and practical organization activities. On the one hand, you always have direct operational responsibility and you may, therefore, catch a lot of the wind, and on the other hand, you are expected to follow the latest trends in the sector and to be able to estimate their importance. You use your negotiation skills with external relations, but you also hold your own internally.

Internally, the Procurement & Logistics department works together with Research & Development, Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing and the various Vanderlande Industries locations throughout the world. But let us not forget the financial departments, because the importance of the purchase quote and the related financial significance of purchasing and logistics are relatively large. Finally, Procurement & Logistics purchases general and technical services for everybody at Vanderlande Industries, so you will be in contact with people throughout the company.

Most of the Procurement & Logistics employees regularly travel abroad, but the differences are big. For some, it will be for just a few days a year, whilst for others, it will be for a couple of weeks. An on site presence abroad is required, in particular, when developing international supply chains in new regions, such as the Far East, when supporting foreign offices and when offering ad hoc support in projects. This usually means being away from home for a couple of days with a large amount of external responsibility on behalf of Vanderlande Industries.
