History and the future

How it all began

Vanderlande Industries was established in 1949 as Machinefabriek E. van der Lande. From a small family-owned company, it has grown into a global provider of total solutions in the field of automated material handling systems. The company is active in the markets for airport baggage handling systems, distribution centres and sorting facilities for postal and parcel services.

Today

The company has now been operating for more than 60 years. Vanderlande Industries installs material handling systems of many different sizes, from local sorting depots, airports and distribution centres to the largest installations in the world. The company is one of the five largest companies worldwide in its sector and is one of the leading suppliers of baggage handling systems and postal and parcel systems. You can read more about the solutions and products we offer on our corporate website.

In all cases, the emphasis is placed on close cooperation with the customer from the initial analysis of the underlying business processes to support that lasts for the entire lifecycle of the system. In order to achieve this, the company possesses core competences in all the relevant disciplines, from system concept and engineering via supply chain management and production to IT, system integration, project management and continuous service and customer support. The company has almost 2,000 employees, more than half of which have a university or higher vocational education.

Worldwide
Vanderlande Industries operates worldwide with its own offices in all the important regions of the world. The company has offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Canada, the People’s Republic of China, India, South Africa and the US. These Customer Centres are responsible for all the important business functions and for maintaining contact with our customers.

The future

An increasing number of more complex IT components are being integrated in material handling systems. Vanderlande’s software engineers develop innovative applications which not only control the logistics, but also ensure integration with the customer’s systems. This means that there are possibilities for system architects and software developers who think conceptually, as well as for business administrators with a technical specialization and consultancy experience.

The fact that the systems are becoming increasingly complex also means that the maintenance of the systems requires more specialist knowledge and that customers require Vanderlande Industries’ help for their maintenance more often. Besides IT, the expansion of our service is also an important point of attention for the future.
