Job Description

The Assembly Technician Apprentice is responsible for assembling products and components in accordance with established procedures. This includes reading and understanding assembly drawings, assembling parts by hand or with the use of tools, and testing the completed product for proper functioning. The Technician must have excellent attention to detail and be able to work independently and as part of a team. The length of this program is 6 to 12 months.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies. 
  • Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions. 
  • Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists. 
  • Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts. 
  • Conduct quality control checks. 
  • Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools. 
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. 
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements. 
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies. 
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component. 
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs. 
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. 
  • Maintains inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels 
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. 
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.

  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often very small 
  • Color vision may be required if your company makes electrical and electronic products that include color-coded wiring 

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Previous manufacturing experience with hand tools and power tools 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge and CBP Seal

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment/physical requirements described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. 

Employee will be working in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. Temperature can vary: cold temperatures of 40 degrees, and will be required to wear jacket or warm/hot temperature of 70+ degrees. Noise levels of 90 decibels can be reached at certain times. Can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles while in manufacturing environment. Knowledge and utilization of PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, etc.) is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Operate and maintain equipment and measurement instruments. 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. 

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching. The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, eligible to receive an hourly rate. The salary range listed represents the base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.

Hourly rate: $24.00
