We are seeking a detailed-oriented, thorough, and organized Contracts Manager to join our Project Execution team at our LAX Key Account Office (El Segundo, CA). The Contract Manager is responsible for the management of the General Contractor for the Vanderlande BOP2 Project. Duties are to plan, coordinate and oversee the progress of the General Construction activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.  Responsible for budget control, scope review, implementation and scheduling of the utility upgrades, relocations and general construction activities.  Liaise and coordinate the work between the General Contractor and the BHS construction manager.  Reviews work schedules in consultation with the Project Managers.

The position will report to the VP of Project Execution, APS-NA.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Oversee and direct the construction activities from conception to completion
  • Manages the GC construction Sub-contract, budget and planning
  • Review the project in-depth scope to schedule deliverables and review costs estimates
  • Oversee, monitor and progress all onsite constructions, right-of-way clearances
  • Responsible and accountable for the site related GC budget
  • Coordinate and manage the General Contractor
  • Track/verify inventory, materials and equipment
  • Review and coordinate the construction schedule against the BHS installation activities
  • Monitor the contractual conditions of performance
  • Review work progress on a daily basis through construction
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining the job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve emerging ones
  • Ensure permits, shutdown notices, licenses are current and in place for the work activities
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks associated with the utility relocation work
  • Monitor the quality of construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Liaise with customer/inspections and operations in scheduling the work
  • Assist the General Contractor with logistics planning for the BHS deliveries
  • Tracking scope changes, analyzing impact of change, and make recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Tracking expenditures, estimate and negotiate changes with client and subcontractors.
  • Supporting procurement with commercial and contractual advice, in line with project terms.
  • Reporting and communicating on project status and milestones, including planning of the project, and facilitating risk sessions.


  • Proven work experience in construction management
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management process, means and methods
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations
  • Familiarity with construction management software packages (Procore, BIM modelling, Primavera, Excel)
  • Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • BS in construction management, engineering or related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • OSHA 30 (min)


  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to act as proactive ambassador for the department
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to develop scope of work
  • knowledge of Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE)
  • Ability to handle many complex issues concurrently
  • Prior experience in the material handling systems industry or similar (Construction/Contracting or Engineering industry) is advantageous
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is a natural
  • Experience moving seamlessly between cultures
  • Drive and ambition to elevate the department to higher levels through mentoring the team
  • This position requires domestic and international travel, typically 20% of the time

This is a full-time, exempt position, eligible to receive an salary rate and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial salary rate: $162,000-$198,000
