If new technologies are your passion and if you like to make a global impact on how we work across our Vanderlande solutions, then this might just be the right opportunity for you!
Winning with Smart Platforms (WwSP) is one of our biggest initiatives where we are working on smart platforms to help standardize our way of working across all Vanderlande solutions worldwide. Therefore, we are building a brand new team that you can be part of and where you can add value by helping us make the most out of our solutions.
In return, we’ll give you global exposure, a variety of international projects to work on and ample opportunity to innovate and work with the latest technologies.
As Controls Design Engineer, we need you to take the platform standards and functions to the next level. Your scope will be delivering and testing software to control our equipment (e.g. functionality to enter and exit our systems in a controlled way, algorithms for tracking and tracing, sorting and merging).
In this position, you are responsible for designing, implementing, testing and maintaining high quality equipment control software running on a transport controller (PLC). You are able to translate business, customer and technical requirements into software functions. In order to do this, you will hold review meetings, deliver design documentation and create a test plan.
When the complete functionality is clear, you will start implementing your code by making use of our software library. You will test and validate your code on emulated hardware.
Once finalized, your solution will be used in multiple projects worldwide, giving you great international exposure and making a big impact on how we run our projects.
You will remain the ‘go to’ person for support when required. And of course, you will gather feedback and lessons learned in order to make recommendations for improvement.
In this challenging role, you will be widely involved in a variety of architectural, design, development and support activities.
You have relevant controls experience with a minimum of 2 years in automation.
Furthermore, you have/are:
• A bachelor or master degree in a technical subject (e.g. Electronics, Mechatronics or Software related)
• Proven affinity with systems controls, obtained during your working experience, internships or hobbies
• An empathic team player with excellent communication skills
• A smart self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
• Driven to succeed, eager to improve every day and demonstrate a desire to be challenged
• Willing to travel to support your solution in case of a pilot (10%)
• Good command of English (mandatory)
• Knowledge of Siemens Step 7 – experience with STL is considered a plus
• Knowledge of fieldbuses e.g. PROFINET and ASi is considered a plus
In this position you will have the chance to make a significant contribution to the growth and profitability of Vanderlande Industries. Our organization has been named for several years in a row as ‘Top Employer’ and ‘Best Employer’.
We offer a full-time position in an informal and professional working environment with a lot of scope for personal development.
Besides your fixed salary, you’ll receive the following secondary benefits:

- Flexible working hours
- Training facilities
- Company Health Center (Fitness, Bootcamp, Running Academy, etc.)
- Collective pension scheme and insurance facilities for healthcare, car, WGA (Return to Work Scheme for the Partially Disabled) etc.
