Your role

As a Cost & Value Engineer you will generate and maintain cost prices for VI equipment using the Computer Aided Pricing (CAP) database which keeps region specific cost price records. You will be responsible for reviewing cost levels of existing CAP records and propose costs for new records if required. You will provide support to the DfX program by providing your value engineering expertise and by making Should Cost analyses.

 

Your tasks and responsibilities

You will work as a Cost & Value Engineer, which offers you different tasks in the field of Support to the SC&V (Strategic Costing & Validation), R&D, Sourcing and Supply Chain Coordination departments. Your main focus will be on:

  • Cost Maintenance

    • Making detailed cost price calculations/estimations;

    • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on upcoming product changes and assess impact on costs;

    • Defining and maintaining cost drivers for newly developed products;

    • Calculating and substantiating updates of unit prices based on cost drivers;

    • Monitoring of target costs vs. realization costs during product development;

    • Setting up reference projects for benchmarking purpose;

    • Reporting cost trends for raw materials, equipment, categories or reference projects.

  • Cost Savings

    • Actively participate in multidisciplinary cost down projects concerning design revisions;

    • Using cost and value engineering techniques to create additional value and/or reduce cost;

    • Performing Should Cost analyses and creating and maintaining cost models;

    • Analyzing equipment or category costs across customer projects;

  • Cost Avoidance

    • Actively participate in DfX projects as the Cost and Value Engineering expert;

    • New Product Introduction projects by providing and monitoring target cost price data;

    • Contribute to tooling and Way of Working improvements.

Your department

Cost Engineering is a department within the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization and is a strategic part of the world-wide deliveries of products and services to our projects. There is a high degree of cooperation with R&D, Engineering, Sales and the other departments, such as Sourcing, Life Cycle Management, and Planning, located in Europe, APAC and North America. Vanderlande Industries is a top global System Integrator for mechanical logistics automation. GSC enables Vanderlande’s profitable growth by taking ownership of a global, flexible and competitive supply base for its Vanderlande Equipment but also 3rd party equipment and services.

Your profile

For this position, we ask you to have:

  • At least a Bachelor degree in a technical field of study (e.g. ME/EE)

  • Relevant knowledge of / experience in cost engineering and value engineering

  • Experience with the DfX methodology is a big plus

  • Experience with Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes

  • Experience in supplier and product development

  • Strong stakeholder management, both in your team and outside

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Fluency in English, and a strong cultural awareness

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI

  • Experience with Cost Engineering software

Additionally, if you bring some of the following it is regarded as a big plus:

  • Experience within the material handling industry

  • Experience with logistical processes and system design

  • Fluent in English and Dutch, strong cultural awareness
