Vanderlande's Supply Chain Center North America (SCC NA) is responsible for the procurement/manufacturing of equipment & services related to the installation of automated distribution centers and airport baggage handling systems in North America.
As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying cost savings opportunities, leading cost down initiatives, and maintaining/updating cost records (for use by the Sales Team). You will work directly with Sales Engineers, Sourcing Managers, R&D engineers, and our Manufacturing team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive cost saving initiatives based on your analysis of supply plans, cost history, and “total installed costs”
- Manage the implementation of your cost savings initiatives and ensure that all associated groups implement the required changes
- Update costs in our cost database by analyzing spend reports, supplier data, market trends and Vanderlande Product Data Books
- Create cost records for brand new equipment – this will require an understanding of the mechanical and electrical equipment needed to build and install our systems
- Perform should cost analysis of current and proposed designs
- Review costs, gather data, and analyze the manufacturing times/costs within our Factory
- Prepare presentation materials for pricing meetings
- Create process maps for existing processes
- Design and implement (new and improved) processes
- Review, manage, and update cost data in the ERP system (JD Edwards)

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with developing and managing pricing or cost estimating
- Experience with Manufacturing and Supply Chain processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the material handling industry
- Experience with logistical processes and system design
- Supervisory or leadership experience
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competencies):
- Expert level Excel Skills – Required
- Familiarity with Sheet Metal Manufacturing, Machining, Welding, Injection Molding, Casting, Extrusions, Panel Wiring, etc. – Preferred
- Hands on experience building/working on mechanical/electrical equipment (as a hobby or professionally) – Preferred
- Intermediate skills with programing (VBA, SQL, Python) – Preferred
- Basic knowledge of databases
- Basic knowledge of 3D Modeling and design
- Strong networking skills to build constructive cross-functional relationships with an international team
- Works well in multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to read and understand Engineering Terminology.
- Ability to lead change in a dynamic environment
