Description of assignment
Spare Parts Packages represent 30% of the total Spare Parts turnover globally. Global Spare Parts is looking for a digital solution which will support the SP Packages turnover growth in a sustainable way with focus on high quality and reproducibility. Current way of creating spare parts packages is mainly based on macros in Excel. Current Excel tool is based on Greedy algorithm, however there are still many possibilities to manually adjust the “Greedy” choices. In fact, the outcome of the tool is not reproducible as each person can impact the calculation based on personal preference and knowledge. In fact, the outcome of the current tool is not reliable and reproducible.
Moreover, current way of working is therefore labor-intensive and the capacity is limited due to high dependency on the knowledge which is present locally. Each increase in workload causes high work related stress and mid-long term capacity issues. The currently available capacity cannot simply be upscaled on short notice.

Description of department
Global Spare Parts department consists of 3 teams: Spare Parts Logistics, Spare Parts Marketing & Spare Parts Sales Solutions. Spare Parts Sales Solutions is divided in three streams: Order Management, Key Account Support & Service Sales. Service Sales focuses on activities in a primary phase of project sales and execution. To their main business belongs creation of spare parts packages which of main purpose is to limit the system down time to a minimum by providing spare parts availability on site.
The Spare Parts Sales team consists of total 8 colleagues with an international background. At first the student will need to become familiar with the processes and way-of-working in order to understand the product/service. That means work few days with an experienced colleague.
We expect to receive a solid advice on how to develop a digital tool which will allow sustainable growth and will assure quality and reliability of the commercial and technical advises we give to the customers.
