Assignment
The recent rise of Generative AI has led to a storm of new ideas and opportunities for its application. What could these applications possibly mean for the future of digital services? How could we employ intelligent agents in digital workflows in order to become more efficient and deliver the best possible services to our customers?
Vanderlande systems produce a lot of data, which can be a goldmine for our maintenance experts, process engineers, and our customers to understand and steer the performance. Within the Digital Service Platform department, this data is collected and used to develop digital services, ranging from operational dashboards to predictive services, such as predictive maintenance and process optimization.
The development of these services is currently mostly manual development work and flexibility towards changing user requirements is limited by the amount of development time available. Generative AI agents have already shown some promising results in being able to increase productivity in coding, intelligent searching, and doing automated data analysis. The question is: how can we employ them in a digital service landscape?
The goal of this assignment is to find out how Generative AI could bring value to the development and use of digital services. This will entail mapping the roles and users of our digital service portfolio, determining the optimization goals, and build a prototype to demonstrate the value.
Department
As intern you will work in the Digital Service Platform department, responsible for driving Vanderlande digital transformation through the creation of Digital Services. The department has data science, data engineer, software development and frontend development capabilities.
As student you will have ample support and access to the existing knowledge within the team. If the internship is successful, your work will be used by the team to improve and enlarge the existing product.
Responsibilities
As student you will be trained on Vanderlande’s domain, systems, and services, and will be provided with data to be working with.
The student is expected to:
- Interact with SMEs to fine-tune understanding of the domain.
- Learn how to use the latest Generative AI technologies and apply them to analyze the data provided to him.
- Validate the model outcome (and possibly improve the model) with SMEs and end-users.
- Draw conclusions on the feasibility and scalability of such an approach, compared to existing method.
A successful internship will deliver a report and a small proof of concept on using Generative AI for Predictive Maintenance.
Skills
- Data science and ML knowledge
- Python knowledge
- (Preferred) Familiarity with Azure and Databricks
