SCIP stands for Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products), and it is a European legislation linked to the Waste Framework Directive. The primary objective of this legislation is to ensure the safe use of products throughout their life cycle, including waste and recovery. Therefore, European companies that manufacture, import, assemble, or distribute articles or products within Europe containing a substance of very high concern (SVHC) in a concentration above >0.1% (w/w) are obligated to notify ECHA. The original deadline has already expired on January 5th, 2021.
It is crucial for Vanderlande Industries to ensure compliance with this important legislation. The SCIP project is currently underway and is organized into three phases:
- Phase I – Pilot (completed)
- Phase II – Implement Process Flow (ongoing)
- Phase III – Reduce the presence of SVHC in Vanderlande solutions (to be started)
Currently, the Vanderlande SCIP team is searching for a new intern to continue supporting the SCIP Project Phase II until its conclusion by the end of FY2024.
Department
You will become part of the PERWG (Product Environmental Regulation Working Group). This is a team with members from Corporate HSE, R&D, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain department plus additional supporting, This team is responsible to ensure compliance with current and upcoming environmental legislation applicable to Vanderlande products and solutions.
Your responsibilities
- Understand SCIP legislation
- Support the conclusion and implementation of process flow for SCIP compliance
- Promote internal training and awareness campaign for internal stakeholders
- Perform an internal checking to ensure new process is embedded within Vanderlande Industries
Your profile
- Interest in chemistry
- Strong communication skills (Fluency in English)
