With a rich history of innovation and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations, we are seeking a dynamic Operations & Maintenance Manager to join our dedicated team in Melbourne West.

Your Position

As the Operations & Maintenance Manager at Vanderlande Industries, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our site-based service team, operating in a cold environment zero to 5 degrees. Reporting directly to the Business Service Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless functioning of our maintenance and operations teams, while also actively contributing to the growth and success of our service offerings.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities to exceed agreed service levels within the contractual budget.

  • Handle major incidents and escalations efficiently, ensuring minimal impact on operations.

  • Foster a positive team culture aligned with Vanderlande's core values.

  • Enable shift leaders to lead effectively, optimizing manpower and skills distribution.

  • Act as a role model, setting high standards for both work and behavior within the team.

  • Initiate and implement improvements to service levels, methodologies, and team culture.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our customer in the absence of the Business Service Manager.

  • Drive continuous improvement in customer relations.

  • Identify and pursue commercial opportunities in collaboration with the Business Service Manager.

  • Take responsibility for workplace health and safety, maintaining WHS standards.

  • Ensure all activities comply with company policies and procedures.

  • Plan ahead on a 6-12 month horizon, demonstrating the ability to step out of day-to-day activities.

About You

  • Bachelor/Master's in Engineering (Technical, Electrical/Mechanical) or relevant trade qualification.

  • Minimum 3 years in a Senior Leadership role, preferably managing site teams larger than 8 staff.

  • Background in automated handling systems, logistics industry and/or system integration business preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working with 3rd party service providers as sub-contractors.

  • Knowledge of service contracts is an advantage.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a natural leader with a strong personality.

  • Strong customer focus and drive for continuous improvement.

  • Ability to think and act on a long-term basis.

  • Autonomous, highly self-driven, and willing to get hands dirty when needed.
