Installation process improvement engineer

Vanderlande’s Site Management Department is responsible for the installation and project execution of Material Handling Systems, Airports, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortation systems for our customers on a global level. The increasing number of new projects and their geographical spread demands for shorter lead times and higher efficiencies of our installations processes, which is the focus of the installation improvement engineer.
As installation improvement engineer you are responsible for the continuous improvement of installation process of Vanderlande’s projects. You will report hierarchically to the Installation department Manager. Within this department, you will develop tools and methods to measure and monitor the installation process performance. As a result, you will monitor the installation performance of all projects in execution phase in terms of safety, quality, lead time and costs. You will analyze the actual performance compared to long-term objectives and come with high impact improvement potentials to improve safety, quality, lead time and costs. This includes the prioritization of structural high impact problems with corresponding root-cause analyzes and as well as performance improvement studies. You will also take the lead in the implementation of the improvements, visit sites and build up relationships with the site management community and other internal colleagues to let your improvement be carried out widely. The majority of the projects will take place within EMEA.
As installation improvement engineer you’re able to act at operational, tactical and strategic level, and you know how to present the benefits of a specific solution in a convincing and constructive way. You have strong analytical capabilities, together with an entrepreneurial approach in which you’re not afraid to take the initiative and make decisions. You can think creatively and in conceptual terms.
University Bachelor and Master degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering & management, Logistics, IT or equivalent
At least 3 years relevant working experience, preferably in a logistics/automation/manufacturing environment
Continuous improvement DNA and proven experience in executing improvement projects;
Strong analytical skills and experience with databases and spreadsheets
Knowledge of continuous improvement approaches such as L6S and TPM, Green- or Black Belt certified is a pre
Good command of English and Dutch (or willing to learn), German is an advantage
Willing to travel internationally 40% of your time
