Job Description
The primary objective of the Senior Quality Engineer, Airports is to ensure that engineering teams in North America deliver the highest quality output through good design practices, right first-time execution and through adherence to good process standards.
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for defining clear engineering quality processes in cooperation with all engineering leads and ensuring the department records and measures itself against a useful set of
KPI’s which help drive continuous improvement.
This role is accountable for looking within engineering and at all inputs and outputs to and from engineering to ensure an end to end view of quality and all of its drivers. The Senior Quality Engineer works in close cooperation with all levels of Engineers, Project Engineers, Engineering Project Managers, R&D engineers and others in operations and supply chain.
In the event engineering issues arise, the Quality Engineer will ensure root cause investigations are carried out by the engineering team and that corrective and preventive actions are taken to avoid similar
issues in the future.
The role reports into the Director of Engineering, Airports and is a part of the engineering leadership team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Owns and defines the quality processes needed to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of all engineering deliverables.
Be a champion and enthusiastic supporter of the need for delivering high quality for our customers and ourselves.
Sets the quality processes for any external engineers that deliver engineered work as part of projects in North America
Ensures that the right information is being captured during the execution of engineering activities to allow for quality analysis.
Influences and motivates organization members to ensure information needed to enhance quality and understand issues is clear and complete.
Shares clear quality information updates regularly with engineering, operations and project execution leadership.
Creates and delivers training material and guidelines to document key quality activities needed by the engineering teams.
Ensures all engineers are aware of and trained in the practical use of our defined quality assurance processes.
Ensures engineering work performed in all North America locations follow and benefit from the shared quality processes.
Takes a proactive approach to create improvement programs that eliminate and address possible future challenges or correct current ones.
Look for ways to improve the way of working such that they fit our customer project needs and local regulatory requirements and balances the challenges of working with other engineering teams globally.
Shares NA engineering quality best practices and ongoing performance with other global engineering communities across Vanderlande.
Required Education and Experience:
5+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer or similar role Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (technical preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:
Must have a strong understanding of the engineering activities and tools used in NA.
Able to work well across the Vanderlande organization in NA and collaborate with many in a positive way.
Ability to influence without authority.
A passion for continuous improvement.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Must have solid critical thinking skills with the ability to accurately predict business risks and opportunities.
Must be a self-starter and planner of own work.
Must have an Engineering background and experience.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel:
This position requires up to 25% travel.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
