UK Sales Manager Parcel

Reports to: 

Sales Group Leader Airport Parcel Solutions (APS) UK

Context:

As one of the global market leaders in the design, manufacture, installation and service of automated material handling systems and related services, Vanderlande has an excellent reputation in the market for reliable project and service delivery, innovation, customer focus and strong market awareness. Key markets include Airports, Warehousing and Parcel solutions.

Together with the APS UK Sales team and other team members you’ll make an important contribution to the sales success in the pre-contract phase of a project. Your main tasks will be to lead Sales and Solution efforts within the Parcel domain of the APS UK business, developing the UK Parcel pipeline, developing profitable relationships within the UK Parcel market ensuring that the solutions and proposals developed meet identified customer needs and offer the best value-add solution.

Ownership

  • Proactively lead the development of our Parcel Key Development Account relationships in the UK (such as DPD, Yodel).
  • Lead the development of the APS UK Sales pipeline for the Parcel domain across Projects and Service.
  • Conduct market research, generates leads, gathers the relevant information on the DMU’s and bidding process and develops win-strategy for projects.
  • Develops profitable (Manager/Director Level) relationships in the UK Parcel market.
  • Mature sparring partner for Sales Group Leader and Head of Solutions APS UK.
  • Support Sales Group Leader APS UK in defining the sales strategy for Parcel.
  • Lead and manage matrixed teams during the tender process for sales opportunities.
  • Coach and support the development of more junior members of the Sales teams.
  • Work closely with the UK Solutions Contracts and Commercial manager in negotiating terms and conditions for project opportunities.
  • Coordinate sales/engineering/maintenance in production of priced tender bids and sales documentation.
  • Lead presentations of solutions to the customer, including pricing, products and systems layout and how the proposed system will operate to meet their commercial requirements.
  • Implements new ways of working to improve the effectiveness of the departmental activities

  • Proactively lead the development of our Parcel Key Development Account relationships in the UK (such as DPD, Yodel) and enhance our competitive position in the Parcel market.
  • Create effective working relationships with all departments both in the UK and globally (as required e.g. EMEA, VOICE) to ensure that customer expectations are exceeded.

Drive To Win

  • Lead the development of the APS UK Sales pipeline for the Parcel domain across Projects and Service.
  • Conduct market research, generates leads, gathers the relevant information on the DMU’s and bidding process and develops win-strategy for projects.
  • Ensure all requests are dealt with efficiently, ensuring employees have everything required in order to carry out their daily duties.

  • Leading and motivating matrixed resources to ensure successful output that meets or exceeds our customer expectations.
  • Working as part of the APS UK Solutions team to ensure a smooth running of the department and business.

Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level (preferred).
  • Previous experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Parcel market and parcel customer operations.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A strong team player and able to build an excellent rapport with customers.
  • The ability to interpret drawings is essential.
  • Flexibility to undertake European travel as and when required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
