Global Services is responsible for the Life-Cycle Services development, implementation and execution of our systems worldwide. With a growing share of around 20% of total sales, the service business has developed into a key part of the core business of Vanderlande.
Our Global Service Desk is a service organization that operates internationally, with the task of supporting customers and local service staff by analyzing problems and advising on controls-related matters.
As Senior Controls Support Engineer you will be working in a team of specialists, their main task is to analyze and solve controls related problems in the material handling systems of our customers.
In this role you will be supporting the Vanderlande FSC (Flow Systems Controller) system. This configurable equipment controller is used to build automatic sortation systems within the Airports, Warehousing and Parcel segments. Since problems can occur anywhere in the system, analyzing problems often requires data analysis, logical reasoning and troubleshooting the system components.
System components include the industrial computer with configurable FSC software application (XML/C++/C#/QNX), programmable controllers (Siemens S7), industrial networks (Profinet/Profibus/AS-I/Industrial Ethernet) and numerous industrial low-level equipment.
You will provide expert level support to our local Vanderlande service organizations that are spread worldwide. Therefore, you are an important link between the various service organizations, R&D and the Engineering Departments but also communicate directly with our customers.
In a typical issue at our customer, you will carry out a quick fix (workaround) to reduce the impact on customer’s business operations. This is followed by finding a root cause (problem management) and preparing a change in the FSC (change management). You will include the customer in this process to align, prepare, implement and test the change.
Our main focus lies on remote support to our customers. It is possible that work needs to be performed onsite in or outside Europe. These tasks include but are not limited to conducting health checks, performing software upgrades, implementing hardware / software solutions.
Bachelor degree in a relevant technical area e.g. Electronics/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering
You have relevant troubleshooting experience in the Controls/Automation area
You have working experience in fieldbus networks such as: PROFINET, PROFIBUS, AS-i and Industrial Ethernet
You have a strong service mindset and are able to thoroughly debug and analyze problems
You are proactive and have a focus on quality and continuous improvement to achieve the best result
You are willing to travel for short stays when onsite support is needed
You will participate on a regular base in standby shifts
