Job Overview
As the representative of Vanderlande and first point of contact with the customer, the Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager leads the day-to-day management of the Operations & Maintenance team (50-60pax) at the site.
This role encompasses various responsibilities, including personnel management (such as directing staff and conducting annual reviews), ensuring safety compliance (including maintaining WHS standards), overseeing operations to meet service and maintenance benchmarks, addressing daily operational and technical issues, maintaining quality standards, and meeting financial targets.
Reporting directly to the Lifecycle Services Director APS APAC, the Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager sets the standard for the team through his/her work ethic and behavior, continuously enhancing and professionalizing the site-based service team.
Although this position works during business hours, the Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager would be expected to be available as a point of contact outside of business hours as reasonably required (ex. incidents and escalations).
Responsibilities
- Manages the responsibility for the site-based team including personnel, safety, operations, quality, and finance.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the team to (over)achieve the agreed service levels while maintaining within the contractual budget.
- Plans on preventative and corrective maintenance and can step out of the day-to-day activities.
- Initiates and implements improvements to the existing service levels, tooling, methodologies, and processes, as well as team culture and behavior.
- Maintains a strong service team through initiative-taking development and regular training.
- Identifies commercial opportunities and works together with the Sales Engineering team to convert them.
- Consult with suppliers and sub-contractors where required.
- Manages major incidents and escalations effectively.
- Drives constant customer relations improvements.
- Ensures that the necessary reports and records are kept.
- Ensures that all activities are conducted in a safe environment according to company WHS policies and procedures.
- Any other reasonable duties as set out by the LCS Director APS APAC.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelor/master’s in engineering (Technical, Electrical, Mechanical) or relevant trade qualification.
- Minimum 5 years in a Senior Leadership role, Operations/Maintenance Manager experience.
- Singaporean, Permanent resident, or other valid local working permit required.
- Background in automated handling systems, capital goods industry, or system integration business.
- Fluent in English communication (verbal/written). Mandarin skills are an advantage.
- A strong personality as a leader with a combination of good interpersonal & technical skills.
- Entrepreneur, people manager, and good communicator, who can develop long-term business relationships and networks with customers and suppliers.
- Possesses a strong customer focus and service attitude.
- Strong commercial drive and ability to pursue improvement opportunities.
- Experience in working with third-party service providers.
- Knowledge of the management of service contracts.
- Able to build, plan, and execute long-term periods (5 years).
- Focused on a safe & healthy working environment.
- Availability in case of escalations.
