Your position

As a Service Technician, you'll support the Shift Lead in overseeing the team and ensuring all tasks are done safely. You'll handle maintenance and operational tasks, completing daily duties assigned by your manager safely and effectively, with minimal disruption to the customer's operations. You'll work within your assigned shift pattern on electrical, instrument, mechanical, and control systems, involving the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of all site Vanderlande equipment.

You'll be working at a key customer's state-of-the-art, highly automated meat processing facility and distribution hub in Wiri, Auckland. Your start date is January 13, 2025.

You will be part of a highly motivated service team who, day to day focus on:

  • Preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Fault finding on automated systems.

  • Using data analytics to enhance system performance.

  • Developing your technical skills in Automation.

  • Providing technical support to our customer

  • The role is based on a site that is a non-slaughter, meat processing facility. You will be required to follow strict health and safety procedures to ensure that this environment is kept food grade sterile while servicing and maintaining live equipment.

You'll frequently connect with overseas colleagues and suppliers to ensure top-notch quality for our customers, with support from 24-hour OEM hotlines and the Vanderlande Industries service desk.

This role follows a shift-based schedule, working 12-hour rotating shifts: 5 days or nights on, followed by 5 days or nights off. You'll cover shifts on days, nights, weekends, and public holidays as needed.

You'll also be working in a 0°C environment. 

Skills and experience:

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an experienced maintenance engineer.

  • Relevant factory or Industrial maintenance experience.

  • Arc and Tig welding experience.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Strong problem solving and root cause diagnosis skills.

  • Good time management and planning skills.

  • Have commitment to safety guidelines, regulation, and protocols, promoting and maintaining a safety culture.

  • Displays understanding of controls (including PLC/industrial PCs), mechanical systems, software, and networks.

  • Microsoft Office skills 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in logistics, postal sorting or baggage automated systems or food handling facilities.

  • Living in Auckland New Zealand with a PR, or New Zealand citizenship.

  • A keen interest to further your own ability and studies.

  • Honest, reliable, and proactive.

  • Be comfortable with working in a highly sanitised and low temperature environment.

  • Be Comfortable at working at heights wearing a full fall restraint system.
