Your department

The Strategic Sourcing Europe department within Vanderlande is part of the Global Supply Chain organization and plays a key role in the world-wide deliveries of products and services to Vanderlande solutions. There is a high degree of cooperation with R&D, Engineering, Quality, Service, Projects and other Supply Chain departments around the globe. Strategic Sourcing is responsible for both Product- and Non Product related sourcing and is tasked to develop and maintain a stable and competitive supply base to support Vanderlande’s projects, services and sustainable profitability. Within Vanderlande, the department operates on both strategical and tactical level.

Your position

As Sourcing Manager Control Equipment you are responsible for the Electronic Components categories. You drive the strategy development(s) together with your business colleagues and ensure alignment with Asia and North America through your local peers. Besides driving the strategy development, the sourcing manager is responsible for the execution of the strategy and managing the supply risks. Together with your Category Team, of which you will be the chair(wo)men, you ensure the performance of your suppliers on quality, delivery, service and cost competitiveness. You negotiate best contract conditions for Vanderlande and ensure healthy relationships with your suppliers.

Responsibilities of the Sourcing Manager are divided into below categories:

Manage multiple electronic related categories

  • Develop and implement category strategies

  • Conduct market analysis, identify potential new suppliers


  • Set up a program of category requirements

  • Define supplier selection criteria

  • Develop and execute RfX, evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate Framework Agreements

Manage stakeholders

  • Keep aligned on stakeholder developments

  • Get acceptance on the category strategy

Continuously improve

  • Improve on sourcing- and related processes

  • Benchmark across projects

  • Utilize synergies between multiple Vanderlande entities

Lead a Supply Chain Category Team

Your profile

The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Master Degree in Engineering (technical studies) and/or Business Administration, with proven experience in a technical environment.

  • Experience in strategical and tactical purchasing / category management in an international High Tech environment

  • Good contract management & negotiation skills

  • Excellent communication (Dutch & English) and stakeholder management skills

  • Structured and result driven

  • Proven track record of successful influencing at all levels in the organization

  • Flexible and proactive team player

  • Willingness to travel, up to 20%
