As Senior Cost Engineer, you will be part of the Supply Chain APAC team in a rapidly growing and changing market to strengthen our competitive position in China and APAC. As Senior Cost Engineer the focus will be on improving Value Streams in projects and different stages of the industrialization process. You will run cost down projects, support Sourcing with should cost calculations, challenge new & current production processes following up with improvements at our suppliers, influence the design in development stages to reach the target costs. As a Senior Cost Engineer, you will be leading these improvements initiatives related to a wide portfolio of material handling equipment using a variety of manufacturing processes (from assembly, sheet metal, diecasting, injection molding, etc.). Therefore, you will be working with different stakeholders like Sourcing, NPI, R&D, Sales, Quality, and a variety of suppliers. It is a diverse role with a lot of independency whereby actions and decisions directly contribute to the long-term strategy of the company.
Good communication with stakeholders, curiosity and a proactive mindset will be key to ensure the success of this position and to contribute bringing our supply chain to the next level.
Job duties and responsibilities:
‐ Act as a cost expert in product development with setting target costs, cost calculations, challenge design choices and production processes, monitoring the development.
‐ Act as a local expert on our newly Design for Excellence program and initiate new cost down projects starting from developing business cases, translating into action plans and following-up with different stakeholders.
‐ Generate Should Cost calculations and support sourcing to achieve the savings in negotiations.
‐ Create Value Stream maps of our supply base from OEM to 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers to improve the flow through the supply Chain
‐ Visit suppliers and cooperatively look to improve our production processes and improve the value stream.
‐ Act as an expert on cost trends for raw materials, equipment, categories, and market developments.
‐ Manage stakeholders on different levels and disciplines (Sales, R&D, Suppliers, Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI) and improve relationships to support business growth.
‐ Bachelor`s Degree in Engineering
‐ Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with cost engineering
‐ Experience with different manufacturing and production processes
‐ Experience in supplier and product development
‐ Knowledge in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills)
‐ Works well in multi-disciplinary team and can build constructive relationships
‐ Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
‐ Fluent in English.
