What you will be doing?  

As a System Architect within our Technology department, you are responsible for the specification and system design of new multi-disciplinary modules to be used worldwide in our logistic systems. You will have a main focus on our market leading solutions for Parcel. Your system design is further detailed by an agile team consisting of system designers, architects and/or specialists with whom you closely cooperate. You will be a part of the stream management and partner with different stakeholders outside the stream like Product Managers, Platform and Solution Architects. 

  

Responsibilities 

  • Analyze the stakeholder needs and user requirements, combining them with the technological requirements imposed by Vanderlande’s technology standards and reference architecture; 
  • Design and document the system architecture including its key interface specifications and the requirements imposed on the various components;  
  • Aligning the system architecture with other hardware-, software-, and system architects; 
  • Identify integration risks early and mitigate these risks in your design, consulting with specialists when needed; 
  • Explain the system architecture to various stakeholders in their frame of reference; Preferable in terms of value for the customers-based functionality & performance 
  • Ensure a proper implementation of the system architecture;
  • Guide and guard the less senior system designers, system architects and discipline architects 
  • Able to pose the right technical questions to the stakeholders and to the engineering teams so the right investigations are executed; Preferably based on the right model fidelity; 
  • Be an active member within our stream core team and drive the future.

What we ask from you?

You have a pragmatic and result-driven attitude. You are eager to learn and curious about the new technologies within and outside Vanderlande. It is important that you can convince others of a particular point of view to obtain an agreement with your stakeholders. 

  • Bachelor or master's degree in computer science, Electronics or Information Technology or equivalent;  
  • Experience as a System Architect in a multi-disciplinary project organization, supporting the Agile methodology;  
  • Knowledge about Material Handling processes, and/or logistic trade and the skills to transfer them 
  • Apply model-based design (matlab Simulink) to system problems; 
  • Use model-based system engineering (Enterprise Architect, SysML) to describe/specify the system 
  • Requirements Management, Change Management, Version Control and Test management tools, including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps;  
  • You are able to keep the overview and to operate on various abstraction levels; 
  • You understand the stakeholder needs and you can explain the technical topics to them; 
  • You master the English language, both orally and in writing (Spanish is an advantage) 
  • A balanced personality with high level of soft skills. Some keywords here are Player, Learner and Trust.

The Linesorter teams (approximately 40 FTE) serve both our Parcel and Warehousing customers with high-end automated sorting systems. The multi-disciplinary teams take ownership in high-quality and integrated deliveries. In a SCRUM-team of professionals we incrementally deliver customer value and drive a learning organization in both technical and competence areas.  

Our newest Linesorter development is checking all boxes. With 4000 individual embedded controllers, both wireless power and communication and increased flexibility in product handling we step into the integration of new technologies and live our customers dream. As a System Architect you are the driving force and linking pin to again a successful delivery.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 6000 to € 7800 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
