Do you have affinity with power topics on a system level and do you get triggered by improving the systems energy footprint of Vanderlande and our customers? Are you an analytical engineer with strong communication skills and a proactive mentality that likes to connect people? Don’t wait any longer and contact us now!
At Vanderlande we are committed to become carbon neutral by 2040. Therefore, we want to improve our knowledge of our material handling equipment and complex dynamic systems to more accurately predict how much energy a system is going to use.
This enables our sales teams to create more competitive offers to our customers, since energy consumption is a significant part of the OPEX (Operating Expenses), TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analysis and CO2 footprint calculations. It will also support sales and engineering to accurately calculate the power requirements for a new site, which is another significant investment for our customers that we don’t want to overestimate.
Next to this benefit, more knowledge about system energy consumption can also help us to determine the most power consuming elements in our systems. These insights will enable more energy efficient component and system designs and also provide opportunities to improve existing systems at customer sites.
Your team – Power & Energy Competence
Over the past two years, the Power & Energy competence has built a strong network of stakeholders from different departments. Besides this, we started several measurement and improvement initiatives and showed the benefits of improving power and energy, both from a sustainable and monetary point of view. We have also provided expert advice and performed measurements for many customer projects. We have proven that these topics deserve priority and we are looking for somebody to help us bring the competence to the next level!
The Systems Simulation Department specializes in the analysis of system performance and system behavior by means of simulation models and operational data. The engineers within the department use the results of these analyses to verify that performance requirements are met and to suggest improvements to system designs. This support is provided to all the market segments (Airports, Warehousing and Parcel), for all phases of the life cycle of a system, from R&D and sales, to project execution and life cycle services. Do you want to be part of this young and enthusiastic group?
You will contribute to the implementation of the competence’s development plan, having several tasks under your responsibility and using your networking and influencing skills to drive change in Vanderlande. The competence’s plan aims to improve power and energy topics across all business units and embed this in the way of working of every department.
You will work together with R&D to set up all the necessary power and energy measurements for our existing equipment, as well as defining deliverables for the required information of newly developed equipment.
You will work together with our Simulation department to develop models that provide insights into the system behaviour and the effect it has on power supply and energy consumption. These models will also enable the development of operational strategies and the evaluation of new technologies which will make our systems more sustainable and energy efficient.
You will develop or improve existing calculation tools for Sales and Engineering, so they can estimate power supply and energy consumption based on measured data and system behaviour information coming from simulation models.
