Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager

With a rich history of innovation and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations, we are seeking a dynamic Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager to join our dedicated ANZ Hilton Foods Warehouse Service Team. 

Your Position

The Senior Operations and Maintenance Manager oversees all Hilton Foods locations across ANZ and leads the day-to-day management of the site-based Operations & Maintenance team. This role encompasses various responsibilities including personnel management (such as directing staff and conducting annual reviews), ensuring safety compliance (including maintaining WHS standards), overseeing operations to meet service and maintenance benchmarks, addressing daily operational and technical issues, maintaining quality standards, and meeting financial targets. Additionally, the position entails actively seeking out opportunities to enhance operational processes and activities across all sites.

Reporting directly to the Service Director, the Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager serves as a key representative of Vanderlande, continuously enhancing and professionalising the site-based service team. They set a standard for the team through their work ethic and behaviour, ensuring alignment with Vanderlande’s core values. While typically working during standard business hours, the Senior Operations & Maintenance Manager must be available as needed to support the site managers in escalations where required. It is also expected the position will travel to Hilton sites throughout ANZ when necessary.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Setup and management responsibility for all site-based teams including personnel, safety, operations, service delivery, quality, and finance.

  • Support and lead the site-based service managers in their day-to-day activities.

  • Build a positive team culture in line with Vanderlande’s core values.

  • Ensure efficient, effective, and compliant maintenance and service delivery operations on sites including maintenance planning, shift patters/rosters, optimal manpower, personnel skills distribution etc.

  • Ensure all aspects of service delivery is delivered within the budget allocation and expenditure and costs are understood and accounted for (with support from the service finance controller).

  • Build a high-performing and capable service team with key focus on skills and training development.

  • Support Site Managers in the effective handling and escalations of Major Incidents affecting operations.

  • Initiate and implement improvements, tooling, methodologies, processes, team culture and behaviour.

  • Drive constant customer relationship improvements.

  • All aspects of WHS compliance.

  • Identify commercial opportunities and work together with colleagues to execute and deliver.

  • Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors where required.

  • Ensure the necessary reports and records are kept, both internally and externally.

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner and comply with company policies and procedures.

  • Any other reasonable duties as set out by the Service Director.

About You

  • Bachelor/Master’s in engineering (Technical, Electrical/Mechanical) or relevant trade qualification.

  • Demonstrated track record of success in service leadership roles and/or extensive experience as an Operations/Maintenance Manager.

  • Natural leader with a combination of people & technical skills, with proven record of effective people management in Service departments.

  • Strong customer focus.

  • A team player with excellent communication skills, well organized, and able to prioritize effectively.

  • Able to work independently and with minimum supervision.

  • Able to think and act on a long-term basis (5 years) – build, plan, and execute, vision.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, able to capture opportunities, with a strong drive for continuous improvement.

  • Ability to travel when required.
