Electrical Project Engineer I
We are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer I (mid-level) to support the North American Retrofit, Repair, and Modernization (RMR) Project Team.
The RMR team is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of retrofit and modernization projects throughout North America. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the electrical design meets customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed efficiently, and that strong communication is maintained with the site team.
Success in this role involves balancing the technical requirements of the position while also demonstrating the collaboration and communication skills necessary to work with customers, vendors, and internal teams to manage priorities, improve processes, and achieve project goals. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, creativity, interpersonal communication, and the ability to determine when to solve problems independently and when to involve experienced team members for support.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet customer specifications
- Translate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional system description that can be used to generate a Request for Proposal (RfP) for Project Procurement when necessary
- Optimize system functionality from the as-sold concept to a working electrical design within the project budget in collaboration with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, and Installation
- Perform system and component level calculations to properly size components and equipment for the application including conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, control panels, and control networks
- Engineer project-specific solutions for non-standard design applications
- Apply relevant safety regulations
- Specify electrical equipment required for complete electrical systems that operate and control both Vanderlande manufactured and third-party equipment
- Use software tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, Word, and Excel to develop electrical designs including wiring diagrams, termination lists, and bills of materials
- Document engineering decisions through design plans, installation documentation, and engineering instructions for site supervisors and installation subcontractors
- Travel to project sites as needed to conduct site surveys
- Support installation and commissioning both on site and from the Marietta, GA office
- Maintain project document control using a rights-based database system
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Or Associate degree in EE/ET with 8 years of related experience
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 33 percent with occasional international travel opportunities
- Ability to think conceptually at the overall system level and translate this into a detailed system design
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly understand and set expectations for deliverables

Desired Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards
- Advanced knowledge of NFPA 70E
- Advanced knowledge of NFPA 79
- Advanced knowledge of UL 508A
- Basic knowledge of ISO 13849-1
