Role Profile

Finance Business Partner

Reports to: 

Head of Finance UK

Context:

Vanderlande is the global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports, and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. Working within the Finance Control Team, the Finance Business Partner will be responsible for compliance with external laws and internal rules, manage and control results, risks and opportunities to help deliver profitability. The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for delivering high quality information while meeting tight and conflicting deadlines to deliver financial & management accounting information. A dynamic, driven, self- starter, business aware candidate is required to help deliver financial KPI’s for the customer centre.

Project Control

  • Trusted Business Partner for all types of project (Installation and Site Based)
  • Help maintain project profitability through good project control
  • Understand Commercial Terms & Conditions of the financial deliverables attached to specific Customers and their projects
  • Communicate monthly data to appropriate personnel to provide status update for the projects
  • Keep latest estimates, related to specific allocated project, up to date
  • Smooth running of month end processes related to project control
  • Maintain agreed customer requirements with regards to submission of data / format and planned audit schedules
  • Support external and customer audits associated with cost plus projects
  • Work with the treasury team to ensure revenue/costs in non-GBP are hedged adequately
  • Adherence to Framework process agreed with customer

Assist with Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly Order Intake, Revenue and Margin forecasts
  • Assist with the Annual budget process for the full P&L at Business Unit level
  • Prepare Departmental cost budgets and negotiate with the relevant budget holder to achieve business objective
  • Monthly Actual Vs Budget Vs Forecast analysis for full Business Unit P&L

Ownership

  • Liaise with the client and other stakeholders as required
  • Delivery of customer satisfaction through customer audits

Build Reputation with Customers

Deliver financial awareness training to operational areas

  • VI Processes including Latest Estimates (LE’s) and Activity Split Up Forms (ASUF)
  • Monthly CER (Cost Estimate and Reporting) tool
  • Revenue recognition process – activity based

Drive to Win

Assist with Financial Control & Reporting Cycle

  • Review and discuss financial status of project with Project Manager;
  • Periodic review of activities (budgets/actual POs);
  • Where applicable, attend meetings with project manager / client.
  • Work with Commercial Managers to help align AFP to commercial T&C’s
  • Work with Sales and Commercial teams to help prepare customer sales quotations
  • Assist the Finance & Control team and the Project team with ad-hoc tasks as they arise;
  • Liaise with other Project team members and other departments
  • Provide cover for both WP and Airport businesses as an when required

Discuss Project Risk & Opportunities with PMs and update Forecast on a monthly basis

Team Play

  • Manage and ensure staff rates, including independent consultancy rates are up to date and reconciled to the JD Edwards system;
  • Maintain schedule of subcontractor costs and reconcile monthly to the JD Edwards system;

Desired Experience:

  • Business Partnering experience
  • Good understanding of accounting for large, multi-year contracts
  • Experience of JD Edwards and Hubble SBC7 reporting systems
  • Project accounting experience including Percentage of Completion
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Awareness of contractual obligations with project contracts
  • Finance and Commercial skills
  • Computer literate
  • Team player as well as ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience of management accounts, including forecasting, reporting and variance analysis
  • Experience of financial accounting including general ledger and sales ledger
