Assignment
- We need to test to sort odd-shape (NON-CON or Irregular) parcels via a SWM (Steering Wheel Module)
- SWM shows possibilities never tested
- The outcome will provide NON-CON solutions for VI
- The irregular parcel flow within parcel hubs, is the smallest in handled items/shift, but relatively the biggest in terms of manual labour involved. Our competitors offer systems with a high(er) degree of automation for this flow. We lose tenders, because we do not have a specific, or do not know if we can reuse existing equipment to handle the Non-Con/irregulars flow automatically. With reference to the assignment, we search for solutions to sort irregular parcel flow. After brainstorming on existing VI solutions and additional ideas, we assess the options on relevant criteria with weigh factors. The test based on a SWM will focus on actual testing to obtain most realistic numbers for convey ability/reliability.
- The test will be executed in our ADC (Advanced Design Center)
Sort Irregular Parcels with a SWM; WP
Need/Source: Part of the FM Sore Irregs. More and more USP in big projects, being able to sort irregulars, but also requests for dedicated irregular sorting projects.
Goals: Dedicated Automatization for irregs, reduce operatos in irreg sort area.
Exploration goal: Feasibility study regarding conveyability (What can be handled, regarding size and weight). At which rate / capacity (quantity/ items per hour). Technology based on SWM
Activities: 1 Design, test and demo SWM setup focused on sorting irregulars
Define / design / implement a single divert point in the IC / ADC
Design based on existing SWM technology and earlier study for sorting irregulars with SWM tech.
