Structural Engineer II – Hay level 40
Vanderlande’s Distribution Engineering Department oversees the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling and Parcel Sortation systems for clients across North America. In this role, you will collaborate with an engineering project team to design an automated sortation system, ensuring it meets customer requirements, coordinates with other disciplines to reduce installation conflicts, enables efficient installation, and maintains clear communication with the on-site team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model and coordinate structural steel platforms for Material Handling Equipment using Revit
- Model header steel to support Material Handling Equipment using AutoCAD
- Ensure designs meet customer specifications, building codes, and industry standards
- Work with cross-disciplinary project teams to address clashes using Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Assist in preparing construction and installation drawings
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to resolve issues and enhance processes
- Participate in project meetings and potentially lead coordination/BIM meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in structural design
- Proficient in Revit, basic RISA (or similar structural analysis software), and CAD tools
- Strong knowledge of engineering mechanics and structural design principles
- Understanding of steelwork manufacturing, installation processes, and quality standards
- Excellent skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
- Self-driven and motivated
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience collaborating with third-party steel fabricators
- Familiarity with clash detection and coordination using Navisworks or similar tools
- Knowledge of building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual)
- Proven ability to work with diverse teams and clearly present technical information
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Schedule:
Ability to align schedule based on project needs – Monday to Friday, 8-5pm EST United States (preferred)
