Your department:
Engineering Support Office (ESO) supports project engineers by developing and maintaining documentation, technical software, and tooling for our engineering department. The project engineers of Vanderlande use an in–house developed application (ESoT) to design our systems in the most efficient way. In our tooling, the 3D layouts are built by use of our system configurator. By choosing the applicable components for the solution and configuring these, the bill of material is generated and send over to the ERP system to trigger our supply process. Besides that, the system design is the starting point for generating our low-level controls software in our PLC coding. The ESO content team builds the configurable building blocks with all their functionalities.
Way of working in the ESO-content team:
Our technology department creates product documentation that describes the capabilities and limitations of our systems. Based on this input, the ESO-content team creates building blocks that consist out of a 3D representation and that is configurable based on parameters. We also program the constraints and checks to guarantee the validity and compliancy of the system.
Your position:
Within the ESO content team, the content engineer guides the design process for the digital building blocks. He/she uses the documentation provided by technology and gathers the user requirements to merge those into a 3D-configurable building block. Conflicting requirements, automation and intuitive usage are challenges that you will be confronted with. It is up to you, to deliver the best result in your content. The building blocks you make are bundled in a library that is periodically released, and you need to maintain those already released building blocks.
He/she will be responsible for developing and maintaining the digital building blocks that are used in our engineering software. These blocks represent both visually and control engineering products Vanderlande uses in its systems. This software package supports the various engineering departments around the world in drawing and configuring newly designed systems.
