In past years, the growth rates of Vanderlande have been very high and the current market outlook remains promising. The current combined focus of Vanderlande and TICO has opened a new window to grow profitable. To further support and strengthen the business development activities of the department Corporate Development, Vanderlande is looking for a corporate strategist.
Your position
The department Corporate Development reports directly to the Vanderlande CEO and includes the following workstreams:
- (Corporate) Strategy Development
- Organisational (Re-)Design
- Strategic Program Management
- M&A (pre & post-deal) and Corporate Venturing
As one of the valued members of the Corporate Development department you will play a vital role in these workstreams. Expect to be involved in definition phases of the corporate strategy and other board level decisions. You are expected to challenge and support decision-making, for example by providing the management team with a framework or prepared analysis (together with other key stakeholders in the organization). In addition, you can expect to be part of the execution of the strategy, by leading projects and/or programs as part of our strategy execution.
The work approach could be characterized by the following steps, defining the issue or challenge, collecting data (via several sources like hard data as well as interviews) and analyse the challenge, finding possible solutions, discuss and validate the solutions with the stakeholders, also to create buy in, and formulate the final proposal which is mostly input to management or supervisory board decisions. These steps are applied to a wide variety of areas, like (Corporate) Strategy, Organisation Design, M&A and Corporate Venturing, Toyota Advanced Logistics Group projects as well as a wide array of miscellaneous Board Projects or Program Management of Change Projects.
(Corporate) Strategy development
- Act as (co-)process owner
- Bring strategic expertise or methodologies
- Act as project lead for specific strategic deep-dives
- Prepare board level decisions (i.e. quantified analyses/Business Case)
Organisational Design
- Bring in expertise and critical thinking
- Hands-on support of Corporate Development management (workshops, write-ups, ..)
- Apply best-practices from earlier experience
- Manage and advice on change processes
M&A
- Definition of strategic rationale and objectives
- Management of process and external consultants
- Supporting Integration projects
- Leading small Integration projects/part of that
Corporate Venturing
- Alignment of strategy and rationale and objectives of Corporate Venturing
Management of process and internal scouting teams
Strategic Program Management
- Project Management, PMO, Program Management, depending on scope of deliverables and experience of candidate
Toyota Advanced Logistics Group
- Act as liaison and contact person for (international) cooperation between TICO organisations or work in related projects
Board Projects
- Quick turn-around of analysis and initial assessments
- Shaping of conceptual framework and analyses to improve decision-making
- Hands-on support of Corporate Development management (workshops, write-ups, ..)

Background
- Academic degree (MSc+)
- 5+ year work experience in the direction of Strategy or Consulting Experience in corporate strategy
- Experience in organizational design
- Experience in M&A (you have seen/been in Due Diligences and know about Post Merger Integration)
