Your Position
Our Digital Service Platform department consists of several teams developing more digital services, as well as teams focused on data collection and deployment of the products you will help create.
As our Lead DevOps engineer you will be leading the department to further embrace a DevOps mindset, guide and help implement DevOps principles and shape the culture of the department accordingly. This involves coaching and mentoring the engineers, organize patterns, way of working and standards. You are eager to design, maintain and grow the Digital Service Platform infrastructure making our agile teams more automation-oriented and securing that operating software in production is an integral part of software development as well. You understand the security aspects of software development, including the shift left of security and security by design in all parts of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Although this role is a lead position, you will also be part of a team where you will take part in the daily activities, keeping your hands dirty.
You will be working in the Predictive Maintenance team, a multi-disciplinary agile team (co-located in the Netherlands and India) which is focused on solutions using Anomaly Detection. As their DevOps Engineer you will spar together with the Software Architect, developers and Data Scientists to come to the solution design and development of scalable solutions that our equipment experts can use to resolve issues before the occur.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
- Setup, support and develop Azure Cloud Services (including Compute, Storage and Networking) and Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS).
- Ensure that releasing and deploying times are as short as possible.
- Ensure that infrastructure is set up as such that it serves the continuous integration / deployment.
- As a DevOps expert you are leading the DevOps guild (with representatives from multiple teams) to implement the different principles of DevOps (including strong focus on security) and convey these throughout the department.
Your Profile
The following requirements are necessary for succeeding in this position, and hence are considered a must.
- You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science and at least 7 years of relevant experience with DevOps activities.
- You have proven leadership experiences, backed-up by concrete achievements demonstrating your role as a leader and/or drive for change.
- Ability to inspire and coach others with regards to the DevOps way of work and culture. This includes security, monitoring & alerting, measuring, and closing the feedback loop with your customers.
- You have experience in setting up, securing and managing Kubernetes clusters is a must.
- You have experience using the Azure cloud, using managed and not managed services.
- You have knowledge of Kafka.
- You have strong experience using container technologies (e.g. Docker).
- You have strong experience designing and implementing Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines
- You have scripting and programming (Python/Java) knowledge.
- You have experience with cloud technologies, including Infrastructure as Code (Terraform); ideally using Azure services.
- You have excellent problem-solving and verbal communication skills.
- You enjoy software development from design to implementation and testing.
The following requirements will ensure a smoother transition in this role, and improve the overall chances of success:
- Background of working within agile team environments, especially using Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
- Experience with automated testing on various levels.
- Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Experience with Bamboo is a plus.
- Experience with GitOps technologies (ArgoCD and/or Flux).

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 5000 to € 7200 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
