Your department

The Strategic Sourcing Europe department within Vanderlande is part of the Global Supply Chain organization and plays a key role in the world-wide deliveries of products and services to Vanderlande solutions. There is a high degree of cooperation with R&D, Engineering, Quality, Service, Projects and other Supply Chain departments around the globe. Strategic Sourcing is responsible for both Product- and Non Product related sourcing and is tasked to develop and maintain a stable and competitive supply base to support Vanderlande’s projects, services and sustainable profitability. Within Vanderlande, the department operates on both strategical and tactical level.

Your position

As Sourcing Manager you are responsible for Mechanical Components (comprising a variety of sub-categories like Extrusion, Rolling, Machining, Rubber components and Fasteners) or Electrical Components. For these categories you will develop a strategy with your peers in Asia and North America and implement this in your EU region. As one global team, you and your regional business team together ensure the performance of your assigned suppliers on quality, delivery, service and cost competitiveness. You negotiate best contract conditions for Vanderlande and ensure a healthy relationships with your suppliers. As Sourcing Manager you will report to the Global Category Manager for Vanderlande designed equipment.

Responsibilities of the Sourcing Manager are:

  • Commodity Strategy Development, developing and implementing regional category strategies adding up in one Global Category Strategy
  • Market analysis, providing direction by identifying potential new suppliers to meet BU requirements
  • Sourcing, ensuring that cost, flexibility, quality, delivery and long-term assurance of supply objectives with the supply base are established – and achieved
  • Relationship management with your suppliers
  • Managing the negotiation process, delivering the total cost of ownership to support the profitability objectives of VI.
  • Ensuring our key supplier relationships are defined via written agreements that meet the long-term and short-term needs of the business
  • Ensure right selection criteria for the supply base
  • Develop and execute RfX and evaluate supplier proposals
  • Lead a Supply Chain Team of different disciplines (quality, operational buyers, NPI..)
  • Get acceptance on the regional category strategy in alignment with the Global Category Manager
  • Improve on sourcing- and related processes

Your profile

The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Master degree in Business, Engineering, Supply or Supply Chain management.
  • Technical knowledge of Mechanical components or Electrical Components.
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in the Purchasing field and a minimum of two years of strategic and tactical sourcing/category management experience in an international High Tech environment
  • Proven track record in contract management & negotiation
  • Excellent communication (Dutch & English) and stakeholder management skills
  • Structured and result driven
  • Flexible and proactive team player
  • Willingness to travel, up to 30%
