Description of the assignment
As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for managing costs for various Supply Chain categories, such as wheels, rollers, extrusion parts, motors, control cabinets, and pneumatic equipment, among others. With over 120 categories to manage, you will have plenty of opportunities to deep dive into each category and develop a cost (price) model for it. Parts are purchased for years, so there is a lot of historical data.
In this assignment, you will support our Sourcing Managers and Buyers during project development by providing valuable insights into the cost drivers for each category. What is there influence on the price?
By analyzing historical data, you will identify the factors that influence the price of each category and develop accurate and fact-based estimations and budgets for the wider VI organization. One at a time and preferably to be used on global level.
Description of department
Supply Chain Cost Engineering is part of Strategic Sourcing. The latter is a department within the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization and is a strategic part of the worldwide delivery of products and services to our projects. There is a high degree of cooperation with R&D, Engineering, Sales and the other departments, such as Global Sourcing and Planning, located in Europe, APAC and North America.
Responsibilities
- Deep dive in a specific Supply Chain Category; agree both on which category
- Collect and clean-up the available historical data
- Build a cost (price) model for the specific Supply Chain Category (needs to be setup in MS Excel)
- Prove-out correlation with real project cost
- Set-up manual (how to use the tool)
Skills
- Excellent skills in MS Excel (VBA programming)
- Experience with data analysis and database management
- Accurate problem solver who can work both independently and as part of a team
