Description of the assignment
Vanderlande is looking for an enthusiastic intern to help study target users to collect and analyze data that will help improve their digital suite. One of the first steps in designing a new product or improving the experience of an existing product is to start thinking about the users. Instead of relying on your own assumptions, you will design a research strategy that will help you to identify improvements for our existing warehouse solutions. We are looking for both quantitative and qualitative research results.
For a tech-savvy company like Vanderlande, it is your job to bring the voice of the users. This is a mindset we promote and advocate within the UX team toward the rest of the organization. Our customers (distribution centers across the globe) are more frequently asking about improved user experience and demand higher quality for their user interfaces, compared to 5 years ago.
As an intern, you will have the chance to work directly with our experienced UX team. You will be in contact with stakeholders as product managers and development teams to learn more about how you go from idea to deployed product at our customer’s sights. You will contribute to the development of our new software platform, which will be used by workers in some of the world's largest distribution centers.
You will gain hands-on experience conducting research on our existing products and providing feedback and input for product improvements and opportunities. While also learning valuable skills in research, design, product lifecycle, and collaboration. Description of department
Within our department we develop a software platform for warehouses. This software platform is easy to configure based on the dynamic needs of our customers. Our department translates the requirements from the customers defined by the product management team to working solutions. Our department consists of 250 employees forming together 20+ teams with a wide variety of nationalities and skillsets. As the UX intern you will be part of the UX design team and work on the same project the team is working on.
You will receive appropriate guidance from experienced colleagues in order to learn all the tricks of the trade. Overall, this department is an exciting and rewarding place to work, offering plenty of opportunities to make a significant impact on the development and success of our company.
Your responsibilities

Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to understand the research needs

Define research plan, questions, and methods (to evaluate existing products) delivering qualitative and quantitative results.

Recruiting participants, conducting the research, and analyzing the collected information

Gain more understanding about the users and identify product opportunities

Collect research insights and opportunities for new development, presenting them to stakeholders

Propose solutions to fulfill the results

Document lessons learned and reflection on executed research for later improvements of the process
Your profile
- Experience with UI design (can create a visualization in the form of wireframes to communicate new ideas)
- Experience with design thinking (knowledgeable in the processs and can work autonomously)
- Experience with Figma or Miro is a pre
