Assignment
In the process of installing sorter tracks, numerous parts are being utilized. However, there is currently a lack of clarity regarding which specific parts are being installed onto the track, and whether they have the potential to conflict with other components already installed.
To address this issue, the current practice of resolving conflicts and making fixes on-site is being employed. Unfortunately, this approach often leads to additional rework and installation efforts, resulting in unnecessary expenditure of time and money. During the transition from the Engineer to Order to Configure to Order phase, it is imperative to prevent the need for on-site fixes altogether. Therefore, a thorough investigation is required to tackle the following key areas:
- What parts are installed to the track and (can) have a conflict with other parts
- Can we avoid the conflict?
- Define default positioning solutions
- Define positioning rules for all track parts
- All rules will be embedded into the engineering tooling which must avoid time spend on positioning track parts or rework on site
Overall, the goal is to implement a robust and efficient system that avoids the need for on-site fixes in order to achieve a smoother and more streamlined installation process.
Department
The MDG Loop Sorters serves as the knowledge center for loopsorters, providing expertise in this field. When delivering a sorter to customers, the MDG Loop Sorters collaborates closely with other engineering departments to ensure a successful outcome.
The Engineering Support Office supports the engineers in their daily job (with knowledge, information and tooling). Additionally, the support office is responsible for maintaining various tools used by the loopsorter engineers, including ESoT, a Vanderlande tool used for engineering loopsorters. The assignment is to prepare logic and information so it can be implemented in the Engineering tool.
Tasks / Responsibilities
- Investigate and describe the ‘as is’ situation for the track attachments
- Come up with default solutions
- Propose improvements for the track parts attachments
- Define positioning rules for track parts attachments
Your profile
- Basic CAD skills (AutoCAD is a pre)
- Analytical and accurate
- Logical thinking
- Creative in finding solutions within given boundaries
