Job Description – Product Relocation Engineer

What will you be doing?
As Product Relocation Engineer leads the Supply Chain relocation projects in North America, to establish regional options to produce equipment for our NA customers, either in our own factory in Georgia, or by our suppliers and contract manufacturers in the US, Canada and Mexico.
During the projects you will lead a multidisciplinary team, consisting of Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Costs Engineering, and design representatives (R&D product development and maintain organization). You ensure that our relocation process is followed so the equipment is setup in our NA supply chain to meet our lead time and cost competitiveness requirements.
The Product Relocation Engineer is part of the Business Unit Supply, and reports to the Director of Quality and Relocations for North America.

Responsibilities:
Lead a cross functional QLTC team through the steps of product relocation projects:

Validate target relocation projects (products / equipment most needed)

Create business case outlining the relocation goals (cost, lead time, second source…) and costs

Review of design requirements (materials, tolerances, CTQ components, Factory acceptance tests…)

Design change request to ensure the design is manufacturable, inspectable, and compatible with regional capabilities and material availability

Supplier RFQ and should cost validation, Dfx opportunities

Supplier selection and award, including contracting and tooling orders
-
Process review and validation, PSW/PPAP and capability for manufacturing and inspection

Pilot production, successful ramp up

Define and improve processes and tools and deliverables based on lessons learned
Required Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor Degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering), with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience,

Associate degree with at least 10 years of manufacturing experience.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel:
This position requires up to 25% travel.
Technical Skills:

Project management skills to ensure completion on time,

Ability to understand blueprint requirements (GD&T, ASME Y14.5, weld symbols AWS & ISO standards)

Knowledge of manufacturing processes (laser, bending, welding, coating, machining, casting)

Knowledge of lean and sustainability requirements, ability to assess suppliers

Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis, 8D, 5 Why, etc

Working Knowledge of First Article approval process (PPAP, PSW, Failure Modes and Effect Analysis-FMEA, Control Plans, work instructions)

Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, Visio

Ability to work Safe using knowledge of OSHA regulations
