Research and Development

Our future growth relies on competitiveness and innovation

What we do

In R&D, we investigate and advance new logistics and automated solutions in response to the challenges of an increasingly dynamic world. Not only is the scale of our installations expanding rapidly, but the standards of quality are being constantly taken to a higher level.

R&D plays a major role in the continuous improvement of new and highly innovative technologies across all of our market segments. This means creating new concepts and studies, defining the architecture, integrating numerous technologies within a single product, and testing the end result.

When necessary, we also have the confidence to take our concepts back to the drawing board to incorporate the latest technology, insights and innovations. To support this, we invest 4.5% of our total revenue every year in industrial automation, software development, robotics, control system technology, mechanical/electrical engineering and mechatronics.

Our R&D unit – around 650 highly skilled, technical specialists – works in close cooperation with our customers, suppliers, universities and industry experts. A typical R&D project team is a multidisciplinary unit containing several experts in their fields, and we offer them exciting opportunities for further personal development.

What about you?

To succeed in Vanderlande’s R&D department, you will need to be inquisitive, creative and proactive in thinking both inside – and outside – the box. You will also need a passion for technology, a sense of adventure, and have the drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

We will provide complex challenges for you to overcome with your talented colleagues. You must solve problems, outline any improvements or invent entirely new approaches, ready for integration into our portfolio. In addition, you will have access to the state-of-the-art facilities and resources contained within our Innovation Centre.

Our R&D efforts are based all over the world – in The Netherlands, Canada, US, India, China, Spain and Germany. Regardless of location, you will work professionally alongside enthusiastic international colleagues in solving complex puzzles. Working in an ‘open innovation’ environment, you must appreciate the requirements of our markets, customers and products. In addition, you will frequently find yourself outside your comfort zone and in doing so, thrive on it.
