Job Description: Development Manager

Experience: 18+ years of experience, out of which at least 10+ years’ experience in managing large size R&D and innovation projects in multinational high-tech engineering / process-automation organization. Proven experience with footprint shifts, as well as significantly maturing a Hardware and controls Engineering organization to take full module and sub-system ownership.

Location: Pune.

The Global Vanderlande R&D organization (Development Center Equipment (DCE)) is responsible for the development of equipment Modules and their life cycle management. The equipment modules are modular building blocks that are being integrated in Automated Material Handling Solutions.

The Pune DCE organization is in a transition from supporting the global DCE organization with work packages to a mature R&D organization able to develop equipment modules and their life cycle management autonomously.

The Airport Sort and Transport – India Development leader is responsible for building the organization to maturity and scaling up the size of the India Airport R&D team. Building an organization that can Design, develop and maintain airport sort and transport modules – working with external suppliers and global VI Equipment teams and maintain multidisciplinary equipment modules autonomously (mechanical, electrical, controls and equipment related software). Agile processes have been implemented following the global Agile transformation program. This R&D leader is a business partner to the global Sort and Transport – Airport stream organization and aligns roadmaps pro-actively. This leader drives and owns consistent high-quality deliveries and is an effective manager in an Indian and international context.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide direction to the Airport R&D development teams at India Development Centre Equipment (DCE). Manage and grow the teams to maturity in terms of scale and scope
  • Be a strategic partner to the Global Sort and Transport – Airport Stream team leaders. Align roadmaps and take full ownership for delivery.
  • Build a high-performing team in India that builds credibility with the global DCE organization to bring more responsibilities to India.
  • Explore, build and leverage external technology partnerships for scalability and capability.
  • Brings state-of-the-art technology knowledge to Vanderlande and contributes to the global DCE organization with ideas and initiatives. Collaborate with other DCEs and product groups in different countries.
  • Implement the Agile way of working transformation following the global transition program.
  • Manage, implement, and monitor policies and procedures for the development centers equipment (DCE India) aligned with Technology organization, e.g., correct processes and tooling are used in development.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve design, (work) processes, and procedures and initiate and implement changes and improvements to ensure organizational development and retention of knowledge.
  • Strong focus on attracting and developing talent.
  • Coaching and empowering management style
  • Member of the Global Sort and Transport – Airport ART (Agile Release Train). Contributing to the development of the Vanderlande India sort and transport – Airport stream organization.
  • This role aims to provide growth opportunity to the candidate to take up larger (technology) leadership opportunity in the future.
