In 2017, Vanderlande started a unique project in the Netherlands, a fully automated distribution centre for our customer Albert Heijn in Zaandam. The system consists of different types of robots and automated cranes for temporary storage of products. Vanderlande and Albert Heijn share the same goal: timely and complete delivery of all shop orders in the safest and most efficient way.
The new and fully mechanised distribution centre is all about technology and is the distribution centre of the future. The distribution centre in Zaandam covers an area of 48,000m2, with 1800 lorries coming and going each day to supply over 330 Albert Heijn stores.
